Welcome to Jennifer Maddan Counselling & Psychotherapy Services. I’m glad you’re here. Taking the first step toward therapy is a powerful act of self-care, and together we can work toward building the skills, resilience, and understanding you need to navigate life’s challenges. Through approaches like Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), we can explore practical tools for managing emotions, shifting unhelpful thought patterns, and improving relationships. I also offer compassionate support for those experiencing grief and loss, and guidance in cultivating self-compassion to foster inner peace and confidence. Whatever brings you here, my goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel heard, supported, and empowered on your journey toward mental wellness.

Just like the lotus, we too have the ability to rise from the mud, bloom out of the darkness and radiate into the world.” – Unknown

Meet Jenn

Hello, I’m Jenn Maddan. My path into therapy and mental health has been deeply influenced by my personal experiences. In 2006, I encountered a profound and life-changing event with the sudden loss of my father. The intense grief I felt—sometimes overwhelming—led me to reevaluate my life’s direction. This pivotal moment brought me back home, where I chose to dedicate my career to supporting others through their own challenges.

This personal experience has given me a unique perspective and a deep well of empathy, allowing me to connect with and support others who are navigating their own struggles.

I bring not only professional skills but also a heartfelt understanding of the challenges that life can present. My goal is to provide compassionate, effective support to those dealing with mental health issues, addiction, and the broader spectrum of emotional difficulties.

My commitment is to help you find resilience and hope, just as I have found in my own journey.

Thank you for considering me as a part of your path to healing and growth. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you.

My Approach

Psychotherapy is a transformative process that offers a safe, supportive space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. It begins with an initial assessment to understand your unique experiences and to establish meaningful goals for our work together.

I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which helps identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns; Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), which supports the management of intense emotions and the building of healthier relationships; and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which fosters acceptance of thoughts and feelings while aligning with your personal values.

In addition, I specialize in grief and loss counselling, creating space to honour your experiences and find ways to move forward with compassion. Self-compassion is also a central part of my work—helping you develop kindness toward yourself, strengthen resilience, and embrace your inherent worth.

Every approach is tailored to your needs, empowering you on your journey toward healing, growth, and a more fulfilling life.

FAQ's

1. What can I expect in my first session?
In our first session, we’ll discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, your goals, and any concerns you might have. It’s also a chance for you to ask questions and see if we’re a good fit. Together, we’ll create a plan that feels comfortable and meaningful for you.

2. How long are sessions, and how often will we meet?
Most sessions are 60 minutes. The frequency depends on your needs & both of our availability—many clients start with bi-weekly sessions, then adjust over time as progress is made.

3. Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Everything you share is kept private, with a few exceptions required by law, such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others. We’ll review confidentiality in detail during your first session so you feel safe and informed.

4. Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. I offer both in-person and secure online sessions so you can choose the option that works best for you.

“If we can compassionately remind ourselves in moments of falling down that failure is part of the shared human experience, then that moment becomes one of togetherness rather than isolation.”
